To make your arrival smoother, safer, and completely hassle‑free, Bangladesh has introduced the Non‑Tourist Passenger Baggage Rules 2025. This guide simplifies what you can bring, what’s restricted, and when you must report to Customs.
Who Is Considered a Passenger?
Non‑Tourist Passenger — expatriates, students, long‑term residents returning home
Tourist Passenger — short‑term travelers returning from abroad
Privileged Persons — diplomats, international officials
Unaccompanied Baggage — items arriving separately from the passenger
Your Duty‑Free Allowance
You may bring the following items without paying any duty, within the approved limits:

Prohibited Items
Passengers must declare if carrying:
1. Maps that do not show the territorial boundaries of Bangladesh as published by the Bangladesh Survey Department.
2. Horror comics, obscene or subversive literature, and similar books; newspapers, magazines, posters, photo films, gramophone records, audio and video cassettes, tapes, etc.
3. Books, booklets, newspapers, magazines, documents, papers, posters, photo films, gramophone records, audio and video cassettes, tapes, etc. containing content that may hurt the religious beliefs or sentiments of any class of citizens of Bangladesh.
4. Reconditioned office equipment, photocopiers, typewriters, telex machines, telephones, fax machines, old computers, old computer accessories, and old electronic items.
5. Live pigs and all types of pig-derived products. 6. All types of waste materials.
7. Horns exceeding 100 decibels, prohibited under the Noise Pollution Control Rules, 2006.
8. Casino and gambling equipment, machinery, parts, and related items. 9. Shrimp.
10. Poppy seeds (poppy seed/posta dana).
11. Liquid glucose (thick sugar).
12. Polypropylene bags and polyethylene bags.
Items That Require Duty Payment
If you exceed the free allowance, duty will apply. Examples include:
